enabled Dynamic Air Traffic Flow Configuration for Flow-Centric Airspace Management

DeepFlow

Facing the air traffic growth and the challenges in balancing air traffic between geographical sectors, the air traffic control paradigm is shifting from local sector-based solutions to cross-border flow-based approaches. Such flow-centric approaches can be promising to overcome the scalability limits of geographical sectors and optimize the traffic at a regional level. Under this paradigm, this project proposes to develop a dynamic air traffic flow configuration method to assess, predict, manage, and optimize the evolving air traffic flows to enable more efficient flow-centric ATFCM and airspace management.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

DeepFlow aims to develop and assess an innovative flow-centric operations management framework to enhance airspace flexibility, optimize air traffic flow management, and improve human resource allocation. By advancing these capabilities, DeepFlow contributes to a more efficient capacity-on-demand service, ensuring a smarter and more adaptive air traffic system.

Flow-Centric Air Traffic Management for Capacity-On-Demand

DeepFlow aims to define a new Air Traffic Flow and Capacity Management (ATFCM) flow-centric concept to enhance capacity-on-demand air traffic services. This innovative approach will improve airspace flexibility, optimize traffic flow, and support a more efficient and adaptive air traffic management system.

Advanced Traffic Flow Detection and Management

DeepFlow focuses on developing innovative methodologies to enhance air traffic flow management. These advancements will enable a more efficient and adaptive air traffic management system.

ATFCM Flow-Based Management Platform and Validation

DeepFlow is developing an advanced ATFCM flow-based management platform to support the implementation of a flow-centric airspace management framework. This platform will facilitate the validation of new ATFCM strategies, ensuring their effectiveness in optimizing air traffic flow and enhancing overall airspace efficiency.
